LumberKings Take Series with 7–2 Win over Dans

CLINTON, Iowa — Nick Venteicher scored three runs and launched his first home run of the season as the Clinton LumberKings (10-5) took down the Danville Dans (4–7)  7–2 on Wednesday night at NelsonCorp Field.

Danville jumped out early with a solo homer from Joshua Martin in the 1st, but Clinton responded immediately as Venteicher reached on a leadoff single and came home on a wild pitch to tie the game.

The LumberKings took control in the 3rd when Austin Mallee drove in Max Burt with a base hit to left, giving Clinton a 2–1 lead. One inning later, Burt returned the favor, lacing a 2-RBI double to left field to bring home Sam Wiese and Colin Coonradt.

Venteicher added insurance with a towering solo blast to left in the 5th and finished the night 3-for-5 with a double, a homer, and a stolen base. Wiese capped the frame with an RBI single, pushing the lead to 6–1 before being tagged out trying to stretch it into extra bases.

Danville scratched across one more run in the 6th on a Michael Farina sacrifice fly, but Clinton's bullpen slammed the door shut. Coonradt padded the LumberKings' lead in the 7th after taking a bases-loaded hit-by-pitch to score Venteicher once more.

JC Dermody (1–1) earned the win for Clinton, tossing five strong innings with five hits, one earned run, and four strikeouts. Luke Kehrli and Jake Weissenberger combined for the final four frames, allowing just two hits and one run while striking out three.

Danville starter Jack Bussard (0–1) suffered the loss, surrendering four runs across four innings. CJ Sturiale followed with three innings of work, giving up three runs, including Venteicher's homer.

Burt finished 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a double, while Mallee went 3-for-5 with an RBI and a run scored. Clinton out-hit Danville 9–7 and turned two double plays while playing error-free baseball.
