LumberKings Shutout In Quincy
Quincy, IL - The Clinton LumberKings (6-6) found themselves down 5-0 after two innings to the Quincy Doggy Paddlers (7-6) and could not dig themselves out of the hole. The final score was 11-0 at QU Stadium June 9. The game ended after seven innings due to the 10-run rule.
After a leadoff homerun in the bottom of the first, the LumberKings strung together two hits. Noah Thein (Washington State) started the action with a double. Kaden Frommelt (Florida State) followed with a single, but Thein was thrown out at the plate. The game remained 1-0 after 1.5 innings.
Quincy scored four times in the second, once in the fourth and five times in the fifth.
The Doggy Paddlers are 6-0 at QU Stadium. The LumberKings fall to 1-6 on the road.
Frommelt led the team in hits with two. It was his first game of the summer after being on the team last year.
Defensively, the LumberKings had a highlight in the second inning; Cole Lanclos (Baylor) gunned down a runner attempting to score on a flyout from right field to end the second.
Jay Jung got the win. Jaqson Tejada (Northern Illinois) received the loss.
Gavin McCullough (McLennan State) tossed two scoreless out of the bullpen.
Nick Hartje (Upper Iowa) threw a shutout inning.
Clinton and Quincy meet again tomorrow at QU Stadium. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
