LumberKings Lose Back and Forth Battle in Quincy
Quincy, IL - There were five lead changes in the sixth meeting between the Clinton LumberKings (6-7) and Quincy Doggy Paddlers (8-6) at QU Stadium June 10. The Doggy Paddlers rode a five-run seventh inning en route to a 10-6 final.
The game ended in the midst of the ninth due to an onslaught of rain. It was also delayed an hour due to weather during the seventh inning.
Parker Studtmann (Iowa Central) led off the game with a two-run bomb in the first. Quincy responded with one in the first and two in the third.
The LumberKings put together a clutch-rally in the fifth. After three straight hits, Kaden Frommelt (Florida State) broke his bat on an RBI groundball to make it 3-3.
Frommelt had a ridiculous game, going 3-4 with three doubles. He finished with two RBI. He has five hits in his first two games.
Karson Grout (State College of Florida) came up with his biggest hit of the year. With two strikes and two outs, he smashed a double to right-center to make it 5-3.
Quincy answered quickly with a pair in the fifth.
Clinton had more extra base hit magic in the seventh. Kale Jensen (UIC) hit a double with one out in the inning. He finished 1-3 with three runs.
Frommelt had another big hit, driving a double to give the team the lead. He is hitting over .700 through two games.
The Doggy Paddlers scored five in the seventh. They hung on to win after the delay.
Keegan Luxem (UIC) got the start and tossed four innings, allowing four earned runs with six strikeouts.
Jackson Wohlers (Saint Leo) threw 2.2 innings out of relief. He surrendered one hit and two runs, none were earned. He got the loss.
Miller Tavaglione (Allen Community College) threw 1.1 innings out of relief.
Clinton finished with six extra-base hits.
Quincy takes on Burlington (5-9) tomorrow at 6:30 p.m.
The LumberKings continue their road trip, travelling to the Thrillville Thrillbillies (6-8) for a 7:00 p.m. game June 11.
