LumberKings Set Back In Quincy

Quincy, IL - The Clinton LumberKings (14-9) faced a setback in a 17-2 loss to the Quincy Doggy Paddlers (15-10) at QU Stadium June 24.

 

The game ended after the top of the seventh due to the 10-run rule. 

 

The LumberKings preserve the top-spot in the division by percentage points. 

 

The Normal CornBelters (14-10) were tied with Quincy before the result. They had their game suspended against the Thrillville Thrillbillies (10-4), which will resume tomorrow with Thrillville leading 3-2 in the sixth inning. 


The three teams are within 0.5 games of each other with two games left in the half. 

 

Quincy scored seven runs in the second and five in the ninth. The team is 11-1 at home this season. 

 

The LumberKings left six runners on in the first five innings, before scoring a run in the sixth and seventh. 

 

Cole Lanclos (Baylor) led the offense, finishing three for three with his first homerun of the year.


Gavin Awbrey (SCC) drove in his 29th run of the season on an RBI single in the seventh. 

 

The teams meet again tomorrow with potential to decide the division. The game will begin at 6:30 p.m. at QU Stadium.
