Clinton, IA - The Clinton Shadflies (29-17, 15-7) surrendered multiple runs in four innings to lose to the Illinois Valley Pistol Shrimp (14-37, 6-20) 17-6 July 25 at NelsonCorp Field.
Illinois Valley scored four in the second and three in the fifth and seventh. They poured six runs in the ninth to put the game away.
The Shadflies scored the game's first run in the first before Illinois Valley scored four in the second. They took a 7-1 lead at the halfway point.
Grayson Kirsch (DMACC) led the offense in his second game of the season. He finished with three hits and two runs. Two of his hits were doubles.
Kaden Frommelt (Florida State) also had two doubles in a two for four performance.
Cole Lanclos (Baylor), Brody Shinkle (JCCC), Bryce Pauly (Indiana) and James Burgess (Sauk Valley) all had RBI hits in the game.
Clinton had the tying-run on-deck in the eighth inning, but could not produce any more runs.
Illinois Valley heads to the Normal Cornbelters (30-20, 15-9) to close out the week.
Clinton closes out their seven-game homestand against the Decatur Bean Ballers (17-31, 8-16). First pitch is slated for 2:00 p.m.
